7th trip – Sailing area Türkiye – Sigarcik to Cesme – August 21.08– 25.08.2022
Our new guests arrived via Izmir Airport and we will take them on board in Sigarcik.
Wolfgang is accompanying us on our sailing trip for the third time and this time for the first time he has his daughter Hanna with him, who wants to experience life on a sailboat.
It starts off adventurously, because you can reach our Joline with our little sock, which is already waiting for the new crew members in the fishing port of Sigarcik.
Impressions of Sigarcik:
Fish auction – a fisherman presents his daily catch and private individuals and restaurants stock up.
We leave Sigarcik and anchor in Gökliman in a secluded bay.
Since the water there is deep and the bay quite narrow, we put out shore lines. As Hanna discovers, steering a dinghy takes a bit of practice.
The tour continues to Sarpdere, but since it is private property, we cannot go ashore.
But the crystal-clear bay is ideal for swimming.
On the way to Alacati we pass several fish farms.
Here we have a special encounter.
Fish farms feed the fish extensively and there is always some food left over outside the nets.
This, in turn, attracts fish from near and far…and the dolphins know this too…
One was particularly curious and took a closer look at our boat, and Hanna had the presence of mind to press the video shutter button and capture this encounter on film.
Next stop Alacati – a lively tourist town – the old town is not directly on the sea – we first have to travel a distance by dolmus (minibus).

We sail on and reach our destination of this trip: Cesme in the Izmir Bay
Directly at the harbor is the castle complex of Cesme – built in 1508 under the reign of Sultan Bayezid II in Genoese and Ottoman style.
The Cesme Marina is full of boats as the Cesme Regatta will start the next day.
In Cesme the crew of this trip leaves us, we have covered 54 nautical miles together – Hanna and Wolfgang güle güle – until next time.
