The cave world of the Taino: The Cuevas del Indio
22.05.2024
Rocks and sea
On the north coast of Puerto Rico are the Cuevas del Indio – a prehistoric rock art site that is said to have served as a place of worship for the indigenous people – the Taino.
The access along the beach is very narrow – but we are lucky and it is low tide.
Anyone who wants to explore the area has to move over the rocky rock…
...but anyone with a bit of surefootedness can manage it...
A visit to the Cuevas del Indio isn't a leisurely stroll, however. Those who enjoy climbing will be in good hands here – you can also discover a few Taino petroglyphs.
