Tracking – Our current position

Our ship's position is continuously reported via our ASI system. An active AIS (Automatic Identification System) is installed on board Joline. The AIS allows us to see other vessels at sea that also use AIS on our nautical charts. Likewise, our ship's position can be seen by other vessels or even land-based radio stations. Together with our radar, this is an important safety feature.

The AIS is received from both terrestrial stations and satellites, allowing you to track Joline's position. However, the free version doesn't display the position if the signal was only received from one satellite, which is typically the case on the high seas.

Thanks to Starlink, we now have internet everywhere, so we've deactivated Iridium. The position will therefore no longer be updated.

During passages, we use our Iridium Go satellite system to receive weather data and communicate in an emergency. The Iridium records our current position and maps our route in the form of a track. You can see our course and the weather data.

Additionally, we try to send a daily check-in at sea. This way, you can see that everyone on board is doing well.
